Relaxation
Our hectic 21st-Century lives leave little time for just chilling out and relaxing. There's nothing
wrong with just checking out from the world for an hour or so and enjoying a soothing therapeutic massage.
Stress Management
Maybe it's your boss. Maybe a co-worker. Maybe it's all that time you spend in traffic. Or concern
about how to put 35 hours of life into each 24-hour day. Whatever the cause, massage can help you manage the stress in your
life. Turn off your cell phone, forget your obligations, and let yourself relax for an hour or so.
Body Awareness
Much like dance classes, a tai chi practice, or a daily yoga routine, massage can remind you that you
have a body and that it is designed for more than sitting in a car or hovering over a computer screen all
day.
Injury Treatment
Many of my clients are very active. Whether it's hiking, running, rock climbing, dancing, or some other
physical activity, vigorous activity can bang up muscles, tendons, and ligaments. I use sports massage and injury treatment
techniques to help my wellness massage clients stay in shape.
Computers and Desk Work
A massage friend once said, "I'm not sure I know what human beings are designed for, but I know what
they're not made for - sitting at a desk all day." Sitting in a chair (no matter how comfortable it is),
peering into a computer screen (no matter how high-res it is), and using a mouse (no matter how "ergonomic" it is) all day
can leave you with aches and pains and stiffness in your back, neck, shoulders, wrists, and hands. My well-developed "office
worker special" addresses these problems.
To schedule a wellness massage appointment, please call 517-449-3273 or e-mail me.

Massage therapy can be effective for treating many conditions, such as:
fibromyalgia, tendonitis, carpel tunnel, plantar fasciitis, sore muscles, headaches,
TMJD, sciatica, poor circulation, trauma (emotional and physical), sports injuries, stress (emotional, physical, psychological),
postural or structural dysfunction, chronic pain and tension, depression, recovery and rehabilitation, symptoms of age and
infant colic.

My wellness massage clients typically come to me to help manage stress, to increase
their body awareness, to address minor injuries from dance classes, hiking, or other activities,
or to just chill out for an hour or so.
A relaxing massage session can help undo the stress of day-to-day life and generally
make you feel better about the world. And where else can you get an hour of peace and quiet and a
highly trained professional's undivided attention?
Your initial visit will generally be 60 minutes long and include
a health evaluation.
What Every Consumer Needs to Know Before Visiting a Massage
Therapist
As more consumers turn to massage therapy for medical conditions and to relieve stress, I want
to share some tips with you to help you find a massage therapist who is trained and qualified.
You should ask the following questions of a massage therapist before getting a massage:
- Where did you receive your massage therapy training?
- Are you Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork?
Trained massage therapists are happy to share their credentials with clients. Knowledgeable professionals have
demonstrated a level of skill and knowledge through education and/or testing and are required to meet continuing education
standards to retain membership.
Recent research shows that massage provides relief for chronic low back pain, eases pain and muscle
spasms following bypass surgery, and is effective in treating lymphedema, a condition common among mastectomy survivors.

Couples Wellness Massage
I also offer several options for couples who want to explore massage.

What to Expect At Your Wellness Massage Session
If you haven’t had much experience with massage therapy, you might be wondering what to expect.
This information will give you some ideas about what takes place during a "typical" massage session.
If it’s your first time seeing the massage therapist, we will ask you some questions.
The massage therapist might ask about the reasons you are getting a massage, current physical condition, medical history,
life style and stress level, experiences with specific areas of pain, and whether there is any specific need you want addressed
during the massage. First and foremost, the massage therapist needs to make sure there aren’t any conditions present
that rule out having a massage due to any health risks. Second, the massage therapist needs to know what your needs are regarding
the massage and be sure both of you are clear about what your expectations and goals for the session are. Third, the information
you provide helps the massage therapist determine what techniques to use and how to structure the session.
Before, and During and After Your Massage Appointment
Preparing for your appointment:
- Wear whatever you feel comfortable in, but keep in mind that after your massage you will have lotion
or oil on your skin that may absorb into your clothing.
- Don't be hungry or very full during your appointment.
- Drink lots of water before and after your massage. This helps remove toxins and keeps you well hydrated.
- Arrive a few minutes early before your appointment and come prepared to relax. **The
initial visit is generally 60 minutes in duration, but can be made shorter to fit your needs. We will conduct a health evaluation
during your first visit.**
